The Inspiration: 1930’s Hollywood Boulevard – an aspiring actress in LA auditioning for a film part

The Look: Hair with a 1930s look but done in a fresh, modern way. Hair is parted to the side, then tied into a roll at the back and decorated with jewels. Over at make-up, Garland used four products, including a blusher in Exhibit A, to achieve a velvet textured lip which was slightly matte in the middle. Polished, perfect skin and brows brushed through with gel completes the make-up look. Garland said: “the skin is fresh and light juxtaposed with this Black Dahlia-inspired lip.”

Lead Stylists: Val Garland for NARS Cosmetics / Anthony Turner for Bumble & bumble

Key Products: Bumble and bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse, Thickening Dryspun Finish, Thickening Hairspray, Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, Brow Defining Cream (new for Fall 2016), Oural Brow Gel, Consuming Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (new for Fall 2016), Train Bleu Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and Toy Velvet Lip Glide (new for Fall 2016)

The Inspiration: Berlin beauties

The Look: A glossy red lip is paired with a soft stain of gloss on the eyes for a film noir feel. Referencing a garbo-esque look, the hair look is glamorous and polished with a wet and dry gradation. Nails were kept simple with two to three layers of top coat to create a super luxe and expensive finish. White pencil was used underneath the fingertips for a clean finish.

Lead Stylists: Marian Newman for MAC Cosmetics / Val Garland for MAC Cosmetics / Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals

Key Products: MAC Cosmetics Overlacquer, Mixing Medium, Basic Red Pigment and Aubergenius from colour palette, Quik Trick Stick (new for A/W 16), Clear Lipglass, Wella Professionals Sculpt Force Gel and Glam Mist

Christopher Kane:

The Inspiration: Gorgeous and fresh-faced; a hoarding recluse that has stepped out for the afternoon.

The Look: A feral brow is central to the look, brushed up and blown out – paired with a velvet lip in a soft rose hue, where pigment is applied to the inner lip and diffused outwards. Silver shadow coats the eyes and reflects light on the Cupid’s bow. Hair is rebellious and wild, with a grown out fringe that covers the face. Bobby pins pull the length behind the ears for a resulting mix of high and low.

Lead Stylists: Lucia Pieroni for Nars / Guido for Redken

Key Products: Redken Diamond All Spray, 28 Control Addict Hairspray, Nars Hot Sand Illuminator, Antares Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow, Andromeda Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow, Brow Defining Cream, Unlaced Velvet Lip Glide, Playpen Velvet Lip Glide, Le Palace Velvet Lip Glide, Ithaque Nail Polish

Peter Pilotto:

The Inspiration: All things Icelandic

The Look: Hair is weathered, tousled and matte, dried using the fingers and covered with L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.ART Fresh Dust for a wind beaten texture. Two braids meet at the nape of the neck, exposing the ears for an elfish quality, whilst Swarovski hair jewellery is sewn onto the braid. Make-up is clean and real. Lips are scrubbed to reveal their natural colour while eyes are dabbed with gloss and left free of mascara. High shine on the cheek bone reveals a fresh and youthful glow.

Lead Stylists: Anthony Turner for L’Oreal Professionnel / Val Garland for MAC Cosmetics

Key Products: L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.ART Pli, Tecni.ART Beachwaves, Tecni.ART Fresh Dust, MAC Cosmetics Lip Glass, Glitter in Reflects Pearl, Glitter in Reflects Gold and Glitter in Reflects Transparent Teal.

The Inspiration: Cool, pure and simple beauty

The Look: Five minute facial using Oskia skincare helped to brighten, exfoliate and create a dewy glow before make-up application. Skin is beautiful and luxurious, while eyes and cheeks are contoured and brows filled out into a natural shape. No mascara was used on the eyes, instead a white line was drawn on the inside and paired with a natural lip. Over at hair, dry shampoo was applied to freshly washed tresses to achieve a second day texture and then tied back into a low ponytail. Flyaway pieces pulled out of the front and around the ears soften the look.

Lead Stylists: Holly Webster, Spa & Education Manager for Oskia Skincare / Polly Osmond for Kevyn Aucoin / Leigh Keates for Batiste

Key Products: Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, Renaissance Mask, Nutri-Active Day Cream, Restoration Oil, Kevyn Aucoin The Primed Skin Developer, The Sensual Skin Enhancer, The Creamy Glow Duo #4, The Precision Brow Pencil, The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Minimal, The Expert Lip Color in Thelmadora, The Sensual Lip Balm, The Sculpting Powder in Light, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Frizz Tamer, Texturizing Spray and Hairspray
