The main takeaway: You can never have too much glitter. WGSN’s beauty team reports.
Throughout LFW our beauty team will be on the ground covering the latest hair, make-up and nail trends as they happen.
Here Senior Beauty Editor Theresa Yee and Beauty Assistant Emma Grace Bailey reveal their top beauty looks from Day 2:
The Inspiration: A girl who has been out all night partying (hair). She’s part of a gang but with an individual sensibility (make-up)
The Look: A two textured hair look with greasy, sticky roots teamed with dry ends. Hair is messy at the back to reflect her night of partying. Pret-a-Powder was rubbed into the roots to form a hazy, static feel. For make-up, clear Baby Lips was applied to the eyes and then enhanced with glitter. Sparkly gold nails matched the eyes to complete the beauty look.
Lead Stylists: Tina Outen for Bumble and bumble, Lucy Burt for Maybelline New York and Michelle Humphrey for Maybelline New York
Key Products: Bumble and bumble Pret-a-Powder, All Style Blow Dry, Styling lotion, Tonic Primer, Classic Hairspray, Maybelline New York Super Stay 7 Days Nail Colour in Golden Brown, Baby Lips in Clear, Push Up Mascara and Nudes Palette
The Inspiration: A cool, pared down modern girl
The Look: A looped over ponytail secured with an elastic band that Reed knotted together to create a utilitarian feel paired with a slightly sweaty hair line. Pli was applied to the hair using hands to add movement. Over at make-up, Box removed warmth from the skin using alabaster and gentle blue undertones for a minimal and bare look but with a serious edge. Skin appeared cold, mattified with a primer to create a uniform skin tone. The eye socket was contoured to form a tea stain with a sensual depth. Box said of the finished look: “very much about empty space. To remove any warmth and take skin to a quiet opacity.”
Lead Stylists: Adam Reed for L’Oreal Professionnel / Alex Box for MAC Cosmetics
Key Products: L’Oreal Professionnel Techni Art Pli, MAC Paintpot in Groundwork, Face & Body White and Timcheck Lotion
The Inspiration: The Futuristic Heidi
The Look: Hair is pulled away from the face and twisted into a messy bun, with the ends left free and doused in hairspray for added texture. On the eyes, silver metallic foil is applied in a banana shape across the lid and then brushed off so only random pigments remain. Skin is youthful and fresh, while cheeks are lightly contoured. Nails take a dirtier route in a muddy green-based nude, applied to short, sporty nails with a shiny finish.

AV Robertson at Fashion East:
The Inspiration: Alien-esque
The Look: Bleached out brows are paired with an intense black cat’s eye, whilst a strip of colour – in blue, green or red – floats above the eye in the lid’s natural contour. A touch of highlighter on the top of the cheekbones finishes off this strong and bold look.

Mimi Wade at Fashion East:
The Inspiration: The Hollywood Hills meets biker girl
The Look: A classic yet natural 60’s beehive gone wrong, with a lived in and broken down aesthetic thanks to copious amounts of sea salt spray buffed into the hairline. A miniscule black bow pinned at the back brings the look back to glamour. For the make-up, beautiful yet natural looking skin is paired with a bright, glossy red or pink lip, with eyes made to look worn in with individual eyelashes randomly placed.
Lead Stylists: Ali Pirzadeh for Bumble and bumble / Celia Burton for MAC Cosmetics
Key Products: Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray, Full Form Mousse, Invisible Oil, Surf Spray, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish, Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Feels So Grand.
The Inspiration: Perfect hair with an otherworldly twist. Honest beauty with clean matte skin.
The Look: To maintain each of the model’s own individuality, Carrasquillo created a clean, matte base using only moisturizer, foundation and powder to achieve a “re-touched version of herself”. This was paired with healthy lips and brushed brows. Nails were painted in one coat of Nails Inc Bright Street, a iridescent pearl colour, topped off with a matte top coat. For hair, the look was described as perfect and well done – an unnatural perfection that makes it look a little bit weird and otherworldly with a cyber vibe.
