Miles Johnson, design director for Levi’s® XX discusses inspirations behind the Made & Crafted S/S 13 collection.

May 16, 2013

Levi’s XX Design Director, Miles Johnson has been getting some airplay on the web lately with his recent “Behind the Brand” interview with Mr Porter and most recently Levi’s short film on the Made & Crafted line. In this short video Miles discusses the season’s inspirations behind the current S/S 13 collection of the premium line.

Only in its fourth year, Levi’s Made & Crafted has established itself as one of the most contemporary denim labels of today. As a modern expression of the Levi’s brand, the Made & Crafted line builds itself upon the storied history and legacy of the iconic American label by designing tomorrow’s classics using today’s best materials and construction techniques. Informed by the Levi’s archive and inspired by the ever-changing modern world, the Made & Crafted line collides the old with the new to create often-unexpected interpretations of American classics.

In this short video, Miles gives us a detailed explanation behind the brand and the inspirations for the S/S 13 collection. He also reveals how the collections designs are conceptualized and his obsession with materials, fabrics, construction, details and fit.

Find out more on Miles in our previous posts including the recent video with Mr Porter and also his latest exhibition in Amsterdam.
