Les Copains

Milan: Well-established Italian brand Les Copains is a reliable source for easy-to-wear dresses and casual separates, adhering to trends without changing their own DNA. For S/S 11 designer Albino D’Amato went in an earthy direction, choosing a medium brown for everything from feminine frocks to sheer, sequin embellished cover-ups. Some applications of cocoa worked better than others, such as a rich caramel tone, used for a full-skirted dress with a distinctly 50s feeling and worn over bright peekaboo lingerie. Amid the muddier shades, flashes of neon really popped, whether delivered as a revealed undergarment or via a boldly embellished floral slip dress. Graphic black and grey stripes, although more obviously on-trend for the season, looked a bit out of place amid the more flattering chocolate-based ensembles. Regardless of color scheme, Les Copains provided enough relatable must-haves – like asymmetrical knit tops and slouchy shorts – to catch attention in the Junior and Contemporary markets.
