The Active team will be in Paris all week, taking in the sights and sounds this beautiful city. We made sure to stop by Citadium over the weekend to get a grip on what is going on with the big picture of active lifestyle trends in Paris. If you are not familiar with Citadium, it is basically like the Macys of Sport + Street culture. They carry a wide range of brands including Nike (Sportswear and 6.0), Vans, Volcom, Fred Perry, Element, DC, Franklin & Marshall and WeSC.
There are 4 floors dedicated outerwear, denim, footwear and accessories. The store was absolutely jam packed with people, filled with back-to-school shoppers and streetwear enthusiasts. There was even an in-store performance in the adidas Originals section, with a live BMX demo and dj.
Tops trends for young men included, puffers vests shown in menswear fabrics, varsity jackets, retro gym-class footwear and duffle bags. Colors were pretty traditional, lots of mineral and slate hues, as well as classic royal blue and mustard. In terms of themes, Nautical, Preppy and Native/Ethnic undertones were still running strong.
For Juniors, the varsity jacket is STILL a top-billed item (we know!). It was shown in a a range of colors and materials including wool, leather, jersey and cotton fleece. Snaps, toggles and zippers were closures of choice. High-gloss technical jackets and puffers still had a presence as well, including rich shades of cobalt and gunmetal grey. We also spotted a ton of low-profile mids and high-tops, but they were pretty neutral in terms of color across the board. Canvas and no-frills materials are definitely still a priority.
