DARKNESS TO LIGHT
Paris: With a weeping willow and creeping fog in the background, the first set of models walked the Lanvin runway in witchy wide-brimmed hats and structured clothing accented with gold metal trim. The mood was mysterious and sober, but the new experiments in precision and severity worked. As the show progressed, fabrics grew softer and lighter, a moody black and white floral print emerged, and designer Alber Elbaz’s signature draping gradually began to appear. By the finale it was all ebullient tones and playful volume, a progression from darkness to light and a demonstration of the designer’s seemingly limitless range and talent.
