New York: For Cruise/Resort, Alber Elbaz presented an appealing mix of covetable signatures and the unexpected. Puffy ruffled skirts and tops captured the lively femininity for which the label is known, while ultra-glam lamé pieces took inspiration from the Krystle character on Dynasty. While one can always expect expert drapery from Elbaz, the current looks were particularly impressive, suggesting he may have been inspired the recent Madame Grès retrospective in Paris. Harem pants, draped jumpsuits and a standout suede flak jacket conjured a chic safari, while a jade green tweed matched set looked right for ladies who lunch. While Elbaz presented a varied mix of themes that felt disjointed at times, the collection still offered plenty of options that his fans are sure to desire. –Joanna Manganaro
