Paris: Lacoste’s sporty heritage received a sleek reinvention for Pre-Fall, arriving as a more polished and less colorful look. Black, grey and white comprised the foundation of simple pieces like slim trousers, a-line minis and parkas, while a judicious and clean use of poppy and tangerine resulted in ombré crewneck sweaters and colorblocked silk tops. Designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista presented Lacoste’s classic polo as a long sleeved dress and inserted the label’s alligator icon into a stark fair isle pattern, creating a subtle new branding technique. Although most of Pre-Fall’s proportions were slim and fitted, several pairs of relaxed trousers had an easy slouch which complimented both turtlenecks and cropped jackets as well as youthful felt baseball caps.—Nina Stotler
