As clothing collections driven by tradition and heritage become even more important to the men’s market, many of them are seeking ways to find common ground with a more modern customer. L.L. Bean, based in Maine, has hired Rogues Gallery designer, Alex Carleton, to inject his “washed, worn and rugged” aesthetic into their tried and true classics. Premiering in March, L.L. Bean Signature will feature tailored linen blazers, buffalo check shirts, shawl collar sweaters, camp jackets and even a madras shirtdress for women. The Signature line will retail for slightly higher than the company’s usual price point, and the fit will be slimmer and more modern.
