We’ve noticed an increase in the amount of customized denim labels lately; at The Ragged Priest, Urban Renewal and Bitching and Junkfood to name just a few. This month, one of our favorite Aussie brands, Ksubi, has released a new retail offering that explores this theme.
‘Ksubi Kustom’ features of the moment designs, alterations and customisations to existing garments by designer Pauly Bonomelli.
This new retail venture is housed within the eerie Ksubi ‘Ghost Shoppe’ in Paddington, Sydney, where the hand painted mural walls of the atelier studio surround a personalized workspace of controlled chaos with fabric rolls, paint tubes and sewing machines.
Self-professed ‘jack of all trades and master of none’ Pauly Bonomelli originally moved from Western Australia to Sydney as a designer for a major Australian fashion house. Skilled in ready-to-wear and couture techniques, Bonomelli’s experimentation in specialist fabric treatments from printing, embroidery, dyeing, studding, and shredding ensure unique finishes to his craft.
We’ve picked a few of our favorites from the selection.
