To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Czech bathroom accessories manufacturer Grund has collaborated with renowned designer Karim Rashid on a colourful new collection, which is being introduced at textiles trade fair Heimtextil in Frankfurt this week.
Titled Kolor My World, the range comprises bath mats and accessories in bright plastic. The designs present the sensuous, organic shapes and the futuristic bright patterns that characterise Rashid’s aesthetic, embracing his aim to bring colour and energy to everyday environments such as the bathroom.
As he states, Kolor My World “explores how OUR contemporary physical world can be soft, human, and pleasurable yet be inspired from our digital world.” In an environment so hard and cold as a bathroom, a bathmat is key to bring texture and softness to the experience. And softness is a recurring word for the designer, keen to underline how warmth, pleasure, tactility and of course colour are key to help in expressing emotions in everyday life.
Karim Rashid’s collection for Grund will be part of our Heimtextil trend report, coming out soon on Homebuildlife. Subscribers can also read our new reports outlining 10 Key Trends For 2015 in Print & Pattern and Colour. Heimtextil will run until Jan. 17, 2015.
