Canadian luxury retailer Kit & Ace has opened its first UK store on London’s Redchurch Street.
The 2,000 square foot store offers selected items from the collection, including core styles made of Kit and Ace’s proprietary fabric Technical Cashmere – machine-washable cashmere that has been enhanced with technical fibres.
The brand has opened 18 stores across North America since its launch in July 2014.
The store incorporates “hyper-local” elements – custom quality pieces created by local artists and contractors – into its shops to reflect the market it operates in. Each shop has a supper club table, a feature light, an exhibition space and an iconic photograph, which create an elevated shopping experience to engage locals beyond the traditional sense.
Creative director and co-founder Shannon Wilson said of the strategy: “Within our shops and pop-ups we’re trying to create an experience that goes beyond the clothing – we want locals and the creative class to feel like they are part of our story because that is who we design for, and who we want to engage with every step of the way.”
The brand plans to operate 30 to 50 shops worldwide by the end of 2015.
