New York: A maze-like framework of angular beams and mirrors set the scene for Kimberly Ovitz’s latest collection of lounge-y separates and sleek cocktail dresses. Like the setting, the clothing packed a bold graphic punch: black and white stripes came together in an eye-catching patchwork, sharp angles cut into asymmetrical tunics and tonal square appliqués decorated body-con dresses. The linear details were anything but stiff and rigid, however, softened with fine gauge jerseys, draped panels and closure-less designs. Although cut in oversized proportions, trench coats and blazers also fell gracefully off the shoulders in fluid drapes and floaty hemlines. Many of the season’s must-haves made an appearance — pieced bike shorts, knit pencil skirts and crossover pants all displayed Ovitz’s trademark laidback and luxe style.
