Karen Walker Cruise/Resort 2013

New York: Karen Walker was thinking of Victorian seaside vacations while designing her current resort collection. The stripe-accented hems, full skirts, and roomy short-sleeved tops were all nods to the era. Walker also included elements of the 1960s, with thigh-grazing shifts and a vintage-inspired floral print. Slinky silk blouses, floating organza dresses and sweet details like puff sleeves and ruffles made the overall effect romantic and feminine. On-trend prints, like eye-catching stripes and cutesy polka dots, as well as the ease of slip-on dresses and drawstring-waist pants and skirts, will make the pieces appealing to Walker’s youthful followers. –Joanna Manganaro
