Rolling of the success of their recently released “Kapital World Documentary,” Japanese denim connoisseurs Kapital launches into summer 14 with their latest catalogue, Denim Men Love Cats.
Another season, another stunning lookbook from one of our favorite Japanese denim brands, Kapital. In their usual picturesque aesthetic, twin forces Kiro Hirata and Eric Kvatek unite once again with this vivacious shoot for their 2014 summer cataglogue. Known for their exotic locations, the pair this time travelled to Lima in Peru, where they shot the models amongst the ancient cities rural settings as well as the open desert backdrops of Iquitos.
Working against the obscure title “Denim Men Love Cats” Eric told us his inspirations for the seasons shoot “Besides the cat theme, I was fairly inspired by the Werner Herzog film Fitzcarraldo (which was shot in Iquitos) and the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Kiro was really intrigued by the Nazca lines, which are manmade shapes in the earth only visible from the air.”
The models, one of which (_metal_mouth_) Eric cast from his Instagram account, are dripped in the brands signature boro denims and vintage-inspired silhouettes, all in a plethora of rustic indigo tones. New items for the season include multicolor patchwork Okabilly jeans, the white boro series and recycled sarukawa braiding. Check out the more of the looks below, then head over to the brand’s website to shop the collection.
