New York: Emerging designer Kaelen Haworth is becoming more confident with her soft minimalism and for S/S 13 she refined a few key shapes while continuing last season’s experiment with pattern and materials. Bold wrap skirts and pared-down motorcycle jackets cut from neoprene looked both sturdy and clean, trendy peplum tops gained new relevance with mesh panels, and an artsy rock print mixed seamlessly with jailhouse stripes. In subdued lemon and pale pink, Kaelen’s daytime ensembles stood out as dressy and mostly work-appropriate, but column dresses for evening suffered from a slouchy silhouette out of step with this nicely tailored collection.—Nina Stotler
