Just Cavalli

Milan: Roberto Cavalli will celebrate the 40th anniversary of his business this year, and his years of experience show. With confidence and ease, the industry veteran presented a comprehensive spring collection that seemed to possess every element one could want or expect from Cavalli’s secondary line. Wearing structured vests and jackets over breezy peasant ensembles, the models looked like bohemian explorers on a tropical adventure. Exotic prints decorated breezy blouses, maxi dresses and free-flowing matched sets, while ethnic motifs added interest to denim separates. Bright colors and hip dress-over-pants styling felt appropriate for Just Cavalli, the more youthful counterpart to the designer’s signature label. Prints were aplenty, from signature animals and florals to a photorealistic leaf motif. Cavalli’s trademark metallics also showed up on flashy purple leather pants and as subtler gold piping. Fun accessories, like colorful geode necklaces and belt buckles, as well as wide-brimmed hats, completed the exotic explorer look. Without missing an idea or detail, Cavalli seemed to hit every mark, and the show effectively summed up the youthful side of his aesthetic.
