Milan: This season, Just Cavalli featured looks that were a blend of schoolgirl silhouettes and signature Cavalli sexpot elements, including animal prints, strong colors and lots of leg. The pleated kilt-like mini had a quite a bit of time in the spotlight, and was offered in multiple variations including leather and plaid wool. Wildly colored animal printed tights or leather leggings accompanied most minis, sometimes making for striking print and color contrasts. In addition to the lively collection of prints, Cavalli offered some new takes on current trends, giving these items a slightly Elizabethan feel. A stiff shrunken leather jacket had a pleated peplum, while the winter neck ruff looked new in fur. See-through blouses got a bit of modesty with Victorian bibs and piecing details.  The collection’s approach to F/W 2010 was similar to that of DKNY’s: a commitment to the label’s carefully cultivated aesthetic, while infusing elements that are expertly on-trend and youthful in nature.
