Paris: Junko Shimada’s Fall collection achieved a pleasant relaxed softness, a feminine ease established with blurred patterns, felt textures and loose fits. Voluminous trousers, pleated floor-length skirts and coat dresses were the most notable items on the runway, and each came in a variety of tonal paisley, floral, plaid and leopard. This mix of patterns made the collection feel a bit unfocused, but each ensemble used the motifs effectively and seemed especially bold styled as a head-to-toe look. Fuzzy knit matched sets became grown-up pajamas with contrast piping and oversized blanket coats were a similarly cozy outerwear option. Shimada’s loose silhouette continued to several dressier items as well, closing with deconstructed suiting in fluid washed silk.—Nina Stotler
