Julien David

OFFBEAT VERSATILITY
Paris: Equal parts kook, sport and flirtation, Julien David’s F/W 12 collection addresses many demographics. From a quirky après ski uniform of pleated bubble skirts, graphic Fair Ilse wool hoodies, sweatbands and pom-pom hats, to crisp cotton shirtdresses and houndstooth suiting, David’s muse lives a varied existence. While some of the designer’s creations, such as circular quilted t-shirt dresses and tufted wool sweaters, were too experimental for the real world, knife graphic intarsia knits, wrinkled silk voile skirts and checked short suits were both creative and cute. Girly but offbeat, Fall’s fitted cotton blouses with printed collars, slouchy anoraks and gathered skirts should please David’s customers on either the slopes or the streets.—Nina Stotler
