Julian Zigerli is chasing the White Rabbit for Spring/Summer 2016

Berlin: Julian Zigerli has been celebrated within the world of design since his graduation in 2010. Immediately following, he has been presenting his collections in Milan on invitation by Giorgio Armani, London, New York and Berlin. The Swiss designer is known for smart, sporty pieces with the distinctive feature of extrovert prints with a humorous appeal. This time a trip to Japan inspired his latest collection called “White Rabbit”, a juxtaposition of the strong contrasts in Japanese culture – toying with the cute and lovely as much as with the dark and twisted.  Hand-drawn, witty cartoonish illustrations of rabbits and bananas contrasted with shades of wood brown smudged on white trousers, tops and suits, setting the scene for those haunted Japanese forests, chasing the White Rabbit by Japanese illustrator Seitaro Ito. The collection was staged in a public park in Berlin as a kind of guerrilla fashion show with models sporting patches of fresh cut grass on their bodies. Obi-style belts encircled trenches and shirts, underpinning a certain Japanese influence in Zigerli manners. –Christa Kaufmann
