The Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris is currently showing a collection of Julian Schnabel’s Polaroids. One of contemporary art’s major players, the New York-based Schnabel has always used photography within his works, particularly in his paintings where the images have served as a base that is then layered with paint. Using a vintage Polaroid camera, Schnabel has shot a series of dynamic self-portraits, as well as several intimate images of his family and friends, many of which are celebrities. A must-see for fans of the artist’s work, this exhibition offers a firsthand portrait of the artist’s life behind the scenes.
