Julian Louie

Julian Louie’s deep-sea divers from seasons past found themselves on land for spring, caught in the midst of a desert storm and finding their way towards a cool oasis.  Inspired by sunset as seen from an airplane window, Louie made a bold statement in his first look with a stunning combination of to-die-for ultrasuede trousers and a bright apricot moiré tank.  From there, the palette gradually faded to the barest hints of mint, lemon, petal pink, and finally white.  His trademark precise scuba-inspired lines took on a softer edge with loose-fitting, airy fabrics and delicate curve and wedge shapes.  The uncomplicated silhouettes had just the right amount of embellishment to keep them interesting: pintucks, cascading strips of fabric mixed with pearls, tulle ruffles, and Swarovski crystals in surprising places. In his strongest collection to date, Louie presented a fresh take on many of the trends seen this season and struck the perfect balance between wearability and innovation.
