Journey to Mumbai

New York…Ports 1961

It was a journey through India with designer Tia Cibani’s F/W 09 Ports 1961 collection. Cibani explored the richness of their beautiful fabrics and intricate weaves in a palette consisting of hushed hues including moonstone, white jasmine, subdued blues, warm grays and tea tones. More invigorating colors included captivating burnt oranges, ruby and henna reds, while strong accents of bright fuchsia and sapphire blue was a refreshing surprise. A plethora of metallic fabrics like gilded jacquards, brocades, organdies, and chiffons stood out. Besides the usual soft billowing fabrics, stiff wools and structured twills were seen on outerwear. Over-the-elbow gloves, a favorite item across several collections with season, added further impact to this enticing presentation.
