LIGHT AS AIR
After a few seasons in New York, Jonathan Saunders returned to show in his homeland for London Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary. Saunders’ light-handed collection, in a palette of whitened pastels, was a welcome departure from his typical brights and strong primary colors. Layered organza and mesh offered an airy quality, complemented by the soft beige jacquard used for a trench. A broken-line motif became three dimensional when printed on overlapping sheer panels. Slim pants in a blush-tinted silk faille added to the luxe feminine mood, while house-made screen prints in highlighter lime lent just enough DIY edge to keep the collection hip.
