THE BEAUTY OF DECAY
New York: Impressing us once again, young up-and-comer Jeremy Laing’s elegantly zen S/S 12 collection was full of innovative textiles and appealing shapes. Laing’s vision this season stemmed from a recent trip to California’s Joshua Tree, where he was inspired by the concept of finding beauty in decay. The idea translated to interesting new fabrics, like mud-dyed silks and linen treated to restrain its wrinkle, and a color palette comprised of desert neutrals and warm, rusty hues. Beauty looks that crossed no-fuss, center-parted hair with sunny gold eyeshadow and fiery lips complemented. –Whitney Kessler
