In what has been a rather average campaign season for the three brands in terms of creativity, with Chanel’s Paris at night setting and then Gucci and Dior’s even more simple studio imagery, each of the brands have thankfully stepped up their game for the Spring accessory campaigns. Star wattage has spiced up the brands’ advertising, continuing S/S 15’s celebrity-heavy campaign trend.
Beginning with Gucci’s just released campaign, the Italian brand debuts its Lady Web handbag modeled by Scandinavian songstress Lykke Li. The campaign has just four images and is accompanying by a video to Li’s track “Just like a dream.” The video (seen below) takes an intimate look at the “I Never Learn” singer through an early 70s inspired LA meets Shanghai setting in addition to a brief jaunt through a vintage record store.
Next up is Chanel’s campaign featuring high profile trio Kristen Stewart, Vanessa Paradis and Alice Dellal, each modeling a separate bag embodying that women. Announced as the faces of the brand’s handbag campaign during its S/S 15 Haute Couture show in late January, we now have the result which features a disheveled looking Dellal, Paradis in the buff save for a strategically placed ‘Girl’ bag plus some pearls, and Stewart looking sophisticated.
Christian Dior has also released its Be Dior handbag campaign starring A-list actress Jennifer Lawrence continuing her ambassador role for the brand. The campaign though it shows Lawrence in a fairly basic studio is redeemed by the actress’s headline-worthy status. A behind-the-scenes film, narrated by the actress describing the contents of her handbag, also accompanies the campaign.
