Jenni Kayne

New York: There was a large slice of Phoebe Philo’s Celine in Jenni Kayne’s S/S 13 collection, from the boxy suiting to the matched set pajamas, but Kayne managed to make the look her own, experimenting with innovative oversized ponchos and tapered trousers. Texture and pattern was subdued as always, focused on both engineer stripes and geometric ethnic repeats as well as simple linen and matte silk. The designer’s latest must-have pieces included simple asymmetric blazers and cropped flat-front shorts: exactly the type of wardrobe workhorses popular with her youthful, yet practical clientele.—Nina Stotler
