Corsets, tartans, off-kilter tailoring and more – sounds like Gaultier in a nutshell, no? London-based crowd-sourcing e-tailer Matches Fashion has teamed up with Cameron Silver of renowned L.A. boutique Decades to bring a selection of archival Jean Paul Gaultier pieces up for sale, a timely collaboration that coincides with an imminent retrospective on the designer to open soon at the Barbican centre.
Following its launch in Montreal and subsequent display in New York, Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is set to open to the London public on April 9th, highlighting the French designer’s evolution from his start in the 1970s through to his collaborations with Madonna, via some 165 couture and ready-to-wear garments.
The Matches sale is something of a retail equivalent to this sure-to-be popular exhibit, so act fast to get a piece of fashion history: it looks to be selling fast!
A selection of corsets, dresses, and tailoring currently part of the Matches sale.
