Jasper Conran

Jasper Conran S/S 2013

London: British designer Jasper Conran looked across the pond for inspiration for his spring collection. Conran put denim on the runway for the first time, embellishing it with appliqués whose shapes borrowed from the designs found on cowboy boots. Quilted dresses (including the final look, a striking strapless gown) were a nod to American folk art. The designer also referenced Las Vegas casinos with images of playing cards and double cherries. The models walked barefoot on the lush, grass-covered runway, evoking yet another American tradition, the backyard barbeque. –Joanna Manganaro
