New York: Jason Wu cited Antonio Lopez and his muses, Jerry Hall and Grace Jones, as inspirations behind his Pre-Fall collection. The designer channeled the decadence of the disco era, which was their heyday. Flared wide-leg pants, body-hugging dresses, and touches of gold all evoked the references, as did the sultry wavy hair and red lips a la Ms. Hall. Wu put his own bondage-y spin on the looks, using lots of leather and incorporating bustier details into many of his dresses. The sexy laced-up shoes supported these overtly seductive pieces. It seems the designer is attempting to distance himself from the ladylike aesthetic with which he has been associated. However, there were still plenty of gauzy blouses, pleated skirts, and sweet dresses to satisfy fans of his earlier work. –Joanna Manganaro
