LONDON: Jonathan Anderson has long been a fan of mixed material garments. This season the designer opened his show with a cropped pantsuit that looked as though he had laced men’s pajamas together with a leather jacket. It set the tone for a collection that focused on the juxtaposition of hard against soft and masculine against feminine. The designer cast his references far and wide: finely knit cardigans were distorted into dresses a la John Galliano, patched geometric tops brought to mind the work of Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga, and laced leather bib attachments were reminiscent of Muccia Prada’s handiwork. Anderson came into his own with the graphic zigzag knit pieces and distorted paisley print separates. The roadrunner print looked fresh, and the color-blocked, perforated looks were bang on trend. With another strong collection under his belt, Anderson is one to watch. – Shine Anthony-Dharan
