Guys attending New York Fashion Week certainly donned their best tailored jackets, but many decided to show a bit of personality and humor by wearing interesting pins and other items on their lapels. Military medals, trophy fish pins, hearts made out of Legos, and even creepy-crawly insects made an appearance. This streets-based trend with dandy undertones has become increasingly more important month by month, replacing the ever-popular pocket square amongst fashion-forward gents. Some of the F/W 09 runways looks also started sporting this added styling detail during the January shows in Europe. It’s refreshing to know that in this time of constant juxtapositions, one really can look buttoned-up and polished while having a little fun.
