Isabel Marant is a designer who can still claim underground cult status despite her growing popularity and name recognition. She’s known as the accessible designer for cool girls, an arbiter of trend who predicts what everyone will want to wear each season. S/S 10 is her last presentation before the slated launch of her first New York boutique in a few months, and the looks she showed were a perfect blend of Juniors-appropriate styles. From strong shoulders to schoolgirl skirts, chunky wild furs, bright pink separates, touches of active, fringe trims and boots worn with shorts, these ensembles were exactly on point, while still achieving a casually careless attitude. Railroad striped denim, laced fly-fronts and raw, fringed edges were a nice update to slim jeans silhouettes. Marant’s direction will be the market’s direction come spring.
