Fashion’s “geriatric starlet” Iris Apfel is launching a new line of handbags that promise to have much style as she does. With materials including Mongolian lamb, haircalf and snakeskin, her love of the exotic is apparent. Calling the collection “Extinctions” after a conversation with Apfel’s business partner Lisa Nunziata, a dodo bird fittingly serves as the collection’s hangtag. With their new collection in twelve styles in five colors, Apfel and Nunziata are already planning on continuing using unique fabrications for their Resort and Spring collections. Set to hit stores in October, these vibrant and oversized bags, perfect for housing Apfel’s signature glasses, are priced between $228 and $398.
