Big data meets consumer insights, Experience WGSN.
In September, we began the first edition of WGSN Future Makers – WGSN’s new mentorship program. The scheme pairs 26 individuals at different stages in their career with mentors from the WGSN team. Over the past few weeks you have met some of our mentees and, in the coming weeks, we will introduce you to the other Future Makers, sharing their journeys.
I’ve always been interested in fashion; my mom and my aunt are seamstresses. When I was growing up, we lived next to a clothing manufacturer where my mom and aunt would often work. I would sometimes help with trimming threads and folding garments and have been intrigued ever since I witnessed this clothing manufacture process.
I have always loved knitting and crocheting because I love the idea of creating something with my hands. During quarantine, I progressed from crocheting small things like coasters and bags to tops and cardigans. I am so proud of this because I challenged myself and accomplished something that I thought I couldn’t do.
The fear of not doing enough drives me; I want to make my time on this Earth worthwhile – I hope to teach and mentor the next generations so they can make this world a better place.
Yes! My dream job is to be a professor. I have had great professors during my college career that have inspired me. I want to pass on that knowledge about the ins and outs of the fashion industry to younger generations.
Vy is mentored by Jemma Shin, our Consumer Insight Strategist based in Seoul. Jemma is an expert consumer forecaster, specialising in identifying generational insights, emerging attitudes and consumer groups across diverse regions.
