As the trade shows began to wind down, Day 3 provided the perfect opportunity for us to get intimate with a number of vendors at Mode City. We saw some familiar faces that thoroughly impressed us, as well as newcomers that offered exciting direction for the market. While there were a few grumblings about the date change, exhibitors seemed, overall, pleased with the outcome, reporting a higher ratio of buys to browsing.
Color was a huge highlight of the show, with neon hues and electric primaries enlivening the floors. This season, lingerie took a backseat to swimwear, which dominated both displays and booth space. The emergence of cotton woven suits was a major development in the category, particularly in Liberty tropicals and African-inspired prints. Our favorite swimwear collections include Guia la Bruna (pictured above), Undrest, Red or Dead, Paolita and Verdissima.
In intimate apparel, key trends include the growth of bralettes as a key item with supportive fabrics and details, the rise of molded lace bras (since Empreinte introduced the revolutionary technology last year) and advancements in VPL-free “invisible” panties. Standout brands were Eberjey, Wundervoll, Damaris, Shell Belle, Wacoal and Ritratti. For loungewear/sleepwear, we were completely charmed by Derek Rose, Cyell and Zimmerli.
Like the Stylesight team, several of the brands will be jetting off to Miami for Swimshow, Salon Allure and/or Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. Of course, we will be blogging from all the festivities over the week. In the meantime, stay tuned to stylesight.com for photos and in-depth analysis of the Paris trade shows.
