Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has unveiled its latest concept You car, which is both sleek in design and technologically intuitive.
Utilizing feedback from global car and technology users, Volvo has designed a car that incorporates touch screen technology, additionally powering up when the driver looks towards it and offering information for when on the road.
Other sensors embedded in the car recognize hand movements, which control the car’s infotainment system. In addition, certain functions such as browsing the Internet are only available to the passenger when the car is in motion.
Intuitive technology is key to the design of the car – “The technology knows who the driver is and adapts itself automatically” explains Peter Horbury Vice president of design at Volvo.
Now considered a ‘third space’ in our 21st century lives, cars are increasingly becoming advanced in their technological ubiquity. For more inspiration and a glimpse into future driving see our recent Futurist report on Cars of the Future. – Philippa Wagner
