Earlier this month pioneering aircraft manufacturers Airbus unveiled their conceptual airplane proposed for the year 2050, a whole new flying experience inspired by nature.
As highlighted in our recent Futurist report, passengers of the future will expect a completely different experience while traveling, one that is seamless and will not impact on the environment, two things that are very much missing from today’s experiences.
Some of the concepts unveiled were a transparent cabin and a virtual golf course tapping into the experience of flying. And for relaxation, aromatherapy and anti oxidant enriched air as well as seats that change shape offer escapism in the sky.
The actual aircraft itself takes inspiration from nature and Biomimicry; its bionic structure mimics natural bird’s bone to offer strength and fluidity while the cabin has an intelligent wall membrane that controls air temperature and becomes transparent allowing passengers panoramic views during the flight.
The Le Bourget International Airshow in Paris showcased the Airbus’ Future of Flight film in a 360 planetarium movie theater which was presented as part of the planetarium’s program at the Musee de l’Air et de l’Espace earlier this week — Philippa Wagner.
