New York: The inspiration for Narciso Rodriguez A/W 15 show ‘Indian maharajas’ wasn’t luculent. The colours, the embroideries and a certain layering were indication for its point of origin. The silhouettes became long and lean, nearly floor grazing, waistlines were high, all in Rodriguez’s minimal nature. Inside belted vests, sheer bodysuits and bandeau tops covering the bust emphasised a streamlined slim silhouette. The show started off with a monochrome colour palette of black and white moving into a soft blush pink and Marigold which was referring back to the vibrant colours of the maharajas. Beautiful beadwork adorned dresses in Rodriguez manner and embroidered traced hand-sketched flowers reflecting the craftsmanship of the ornate visual traditions of Indian royalty. An alluring purist collection executed in its finest possible way.- Christa Kaufmann
