Coming up next week (October 29th-30th) is the ‘International Denim Conference’ held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad, the renowned denim capital of India. About fifteen speakers will be present from leading denim and textile companies both from India and around the world.
The conference, hosted by fiber2fashion and the Textile Association of India, shall be chaired by Dr. P. R. Roy – the Ex-Chief Executive of Arvind Mills (also known as the father of the Indian Denim Industry) and sponsors include companies like Arvind Ltd, Levi Strauss, Aarvee Denims, Malwa Group and Mafatlal Denims. The event comes at a time when India’s denim industry is going from strength to strength, now producing 600 million meters and 225 million pairs of jeans a year.
With the recent substantial growth in cotton production and continued enhancement of land available for cultivation, can India take a leadership role in the denim manufacturing industry?
The conference will be held at the Indian Institute of Management – the premier Management Institute of India. For more details on the conference, contact Nirav Shah at fibre2fashion.
