Last weekend the Stylesight denim team headed once again to Lightning Magazine’s annual Inazuma Festival to soak up the street style and bargain grabs from the fair.
Most workwear and vintage enthusiast’ will be aware of Lightning Magazine’s niche yet hugely popular festival Inazuma, a two day festival that takes place on the outskirts of Tokyo. The event started eight years ago by by the guys at the Japanese menswear publication as a way of connecting the readers with each other and the magazine itself. Since then, the event has grown exponentially into a huge weekend, attended by bikers, denim heads, vintage enthusiasts and fans of Americana. Attended by a predominantly male audience, the two day event dedicates one day to vintage dealers and another day to Japan’s top apparel brands.
Previous editions of the show have been held in Odaiba, Tokyo as well as “The Denim City” Okayama last year, where Stylesight was in attendance (read the article here). The 2013 edition saw the event move to Akishima, Tokyo with over 100 vendors including Iron Heart, The Flat Head, Warehouse, Samurai Jeans, The Real McCoys and Studio D’Artisan. This top portfolio of denim brands (selling old season stock at rock bottom prices) attracts visitors from across the country to pick up bargains. As usual an incredible turnout was seen this year with ladies, gents, kids and even dogs sporting their best threads. Below we take a look at some of the strongest looks.
For men outfits balanced between workwear uniforms through to retro ’70s looks and the more eclectic styling that Japanese men are known for. And of course, the looks were topped with impeccable styling that included baker hats, beautifully polished leather boots and statement silver accessories.
Women took a borrowed from the boys sensibility looking to tun-of-the-century styling and `50-`60s influences to inspire their outfits. Not afraid of a rugged fabric or two these women turned out in raw 5-pockets, heavy duty coveralls and well-worn hickory stripes.
