In Search of a Stud


Founded by British DJ & club promoter Natasha Slater, “Punks Wear Prada” is a weekly party in Milan. “Bringing back the heat and glamor of the ’70s Disco era,” the weekly party changes its theme each week to determine the dress code. Last week, our Milan correspondent, Nicoletta, attended the “studded affair” where attendees wore anything and everything with the season’s hottest embellishment, metal studs.

After showing up in runway collections like Burberry Prorsum, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton, & Frankie Morello, the punk-influenced detail adorned everything from sneakers and belts to coat collars and even leather bow ties! Whereas studs used to only show up on leather jackets and other “hard” materials, it’s now being used as the ultimate contrast with luxurious fabrics and precise tailoring.
