In this pool of undiscovered talent that makes up New York City, one artist is making massive waves since his move here, this year, from Florida. Elijah Anderson is hands down one of the best parts of my social media feed and he should definitely be on your radar for 2017.
Pop culture and the skate world seep through as clear influences for this artist who drips blasé humor and smart puns in each piece he creates. In an interview earlier this year, Anderson describes his art as “…being minimal…the phrases being not too deep but also deep enough to make people think and have a little chuckle.”
His recent collaboration with up-and-coming brand, Peels, further confirms a promising future for his art. He worked with them to design a limited release jacket, still available online for now, that captures (in seemingly equal parts) the brand’s image and his personal style.
Elijah Anderson, his artwork and the messages they convey resonate deeply with his following. As we enter the new year, he is a key artist to know about in 2017.
