Dubbed “The hippest long weekend on the annual music-festival calendar” by Rolling Stone magazine, Iceland Airwaves has well and truly cemented its reputation as the go-to destination for discovering your favorite new band.

This year, a grand total of 8,000 fans and industry insiders flocked to Reykjavik’s otherworldly environs for five days of party-hard antics and soulful (sometimes feral) performances, thanks to a tightly curated edit of genre-crossing talent.

Flash-forward a week: we’ve been busy creating our post-Iceland Airwaves street style reports to a line-up induced soundtrack, and decided to include our readership. So here’s a selection of our top three favorite acts – aside from ones that we have mentioned in the past – ahem – Savages, Goat, Empress Of, Mac Demarco, to name but a few (also worth checking out if you haven’t yet). So sit back, and turn up the volume.

1. Jagwar Ma – This Sydney-based duo is making waves with their critically acclaimed debut album “Howlin”.

2. No Joy – Montreal-based babes┬áJasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd’s moody shoegaze haze has garnered praise via their newly released album “Wait To Pleasure”.

3. Retro Stefson – This multi-award winning Icelandic crew is big news back home, and cultivating fans worldwide with their catchy sounds.
