New York: For his third collection for the Japanese label, ICB (which stands for International Concept Brand), Prabal Gurung presented inspired basics with an easy elegance. With the delivery time in mind, the designer focused on warm-weather items, such as spaghetti-strap dresses and short skirts. Many of the pieces featured gathering or bias cuts, giving them a sense of movement, while sharp tailoring seen in collarless blazers provided structure to the mix. The first look, a color-blocked dress with an on-trend shirttail hem, was a definite highlight, effortless and nonchalant. Slim-fitting knits, especially a cap-sleeved sweater with a mesh back panel, are also sure to do well at retail. Playful florals, stripes, and chevrons added a youthful touch that will appeal to the lower-priced label’s clientele.–Joanna Manganaro
