The West Adams area of Los Angeles is gaining traction as it is going through a new revitalisation, in fact, a mini-development of colourful shipping container-shops popped up recently. The new property known as The Shops at Adams Gateway offers art, records, succulent plants, interior decoration, rockabilly merchandise plus vintage treasures.

The shipping-container shop community was dreamed up by entrepreneur and local resident Fred Sutherland. Sutherland actually lived in Venice before making the move to West Adams and he sees West Adams as a ‘a paint job away’ from revitalisation.
The community is full of creativity, with vibrant insta-ready outdoor-corners as well as the colourful shops themselves with friendly owners. At the moment the community houses 7 different container shops, which includes The Daisy Chain where you can purchase orchids and succulent plants by Marissa Mitchell. Vinyl enthusiasts can buy, sell, and trade vinyl records over at Dig It Vinyl. Stop by Daily Organics to get your dose of organic produce sourced locally and don’t forget to try their original house blend coffee. Over at Hair Finery all-natural and organic hair care is inspired by healthy living. Get your shop on at Lot Xi where you will find men’s and women’s contemporary clothing and fabulous jewelry. Don’t miss out on deals over at Rocket Vintage where you will find a curated selection of vintage tees, denim, shoes and accessories. Lastly, Superiority Complex is the stop for rockabilly memorabilia, accessories and clothing.

While you are visiting, don’t forget to dig into some delicious BBQ next right next door at J’N’J Burgers & Barbecue, at the same space, check out Just Tantau where you can find an eclectic assortment of jewellery and gifts. Located just a few blocks away you can check out contemporary art at Dem Passwords and Gallery 38. The addition of the shops at Adams Gateway signifies that this is one LA neighbourhood to definitely keep an eye on.
