Planning a trip to NYC this fall? Make the most of your expense account and book a room at the newly opened Americano Hotel, a multicultural slice of heaven located in the gallery-laden Chelsea neighborhood.
This ten-story, fifty-six room metal mesh draped wonder is essentially the U.N. of hotels, boasting an international pedigree like no other space in the city. The stunning Americano Hotel is the 11th boutique hotel in Mexico City’s famed Grupo Habita’s empire, and their first U.S. venture.
New York-based Mexican architect Enrique Norton of the award-winning Ten Arqitectos designed the distinctive exterior, while the chic interior comes courtesy of French designer Arnaud Montigny, the man behind Paris’ hippest department store, Colette.
The rooms are meant to evoke 1960’s Milan, with contemporary furnishings, over-sized soaking tubs and sweeping views of the Empire State Building. The twists on this standard theme include Japanese-style wooden platform beds and Imabari washcloths, oversized Turkish bath towels and soft denim bathrobes from NYC-based brand Loden Dager (who also outfitted the hotel entire staff).
Room service also has a decidedly Japanese feel, with multiple bento box options from tacos to granola available 24-hours a day. Order using your in-room iPad, which also includes a guest directory, curated music selection, virtual gift shop, in-room controls and a custom-made New York City guidebook.
If you’re in the mood for something that doesn’t come in a box, head up to The Americano, the hotel’s main restaurant, where ‘French fare with a Latin flair’ is served on a gorgeous outdoor patio and rooftop grill, or check out their sleek bar.
Big spenders can rent out their private basement bar, awash in royal purple.
No matter the weather, the casual Grill at La Piscine is a poolside spot that’s open year-round for drinks and Mediterranean-inspired nibbles. Cozy up under the heat lamps and watch the City that Never Sleeps sparkle in the distance.
Want to see the city up close and personal? Handcrafted bikes from NYC’s Bowery Lane Bicycles are available for guests. It’s only a block from the hotel to the Hudson River Greenway Bike Path, which runs from the beautiful Cloisters all the way to the Statue of Liberty.
