Designers big and small have been staging Pre-Fall collections over the past few months, whetting our appetite for the start of the F/W 2012 runway season in February. While legwear, understandably, took a brief respite for spring, the category gained some fresh legs (pun intended) in the interim season, undoubtedly setting the stage for a major return next month.
Consistent with our recent legwear reports from the runway, sleek fine-gauge microfibers and refined ribs seem to be the definitive trends of the season. Slightly drab, utilitarian nudes like pumice and buff look especially new, adding an understated yet edgy accent to the legs. On a more novel note, metallics don’t look to be going away anytime soon, although, the grunge-y interpretations spotted at Theyskens’ Theory and (of all places) Chanel are among the most directional we’ve seen.
