Paris: It’s been eight years since H&M presented a catwalk show created by their own in-house design team, and not by guest designers. H&M put up an elaborate show and invited the press to the Musée Rodin, which was was divided into 15 different rooms. There was live music and champagne as the guests mingled from hallway to living room to bedrooms, before settling on lounges to watch the show. “In combination with tailoring, we feel very much for dresses,” said head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson, backstage. Tuxedo tailcoats were styled over flimsy chiffon dresses. “We wanted fragile dresses with patina, a vintage feel. Loved garments that have lost a few pearls,” Ann-Sofie continued. The collection started off with a big fuzzy sweater styled with over-the-knee boots, followed by a leather mini skirt and wearable uniform jackets. Delicate dresses followed, short in front and long at back. “Sometimes you feel for long and short, we wanted the drama of a long dress but showing of some legs,” said Ann-Sophie. H&M also flirted with fringes, sparkly embroidery and feathered garments, but it was the pants decorated with pearl fringes that were the ultimate showstopper. “We are H&M and dress all kinds of women; it has to be wearable fashion — cool and fun.”—Celia Ingesson
